No, Themba is not. Themba has been a privately owned business since 2007, Ms. Jameela Allen is the owner.

All new staff wear black while training for the first 90 days.

The classroom schedule is posted on the classroom door and inside of the orientation welcome package you receive when your child starts.

Zoo phonics is a learning method that uses animals to help children learn the sounds of letters by making the sound and gesture of the animal.

Will my child get Homework?

Yes, teachers will send home HW weekly

How often does my child go outside?

Each classroom is scheduled to go outside twice a day.

What are the extra- curriculum activities?

Fall/Winter- Science, Music, Robotic Engineering, Martial Arts

Spring/Summer- Spanish, Bell Choir, Dance, Soccer, Organic Gardening

What is DEAR TIME?

Everyday at 4pm we DROP Everything And Read for 15 mins.

Does Themba take the children on field trips?

Yes, only ages three and up. We also offer several in house field trips throughout the year..

Where can I find the daily lesson plan?

Lesson plans are posted in procare and will be included in your child’s end of the day report.

They are also on the parent board outside of your child’s classroom

When will my child transfer to the next classroom?

Once a child advances in age, the child will move to the next classroom only if space is available. Teachers will notify you when it is time for your child to move, you will also receive a form that lets you know which dates they will begin to transition.

What happens if my child does not like to take naps?

Children who don’t take naps will be given a quiet activity during that time such as books, puzzles etc .

How will I know if Themba is closed during inclement weather?

Themba follows PGCPS closures during bad weather. Please watch the local news.

Can my child have a birthday party at school?

Yes, please get the birthday form from your child’s teacher.

All birthday party forms are to be submitted 2 weeks in advance.
